Jo Allen – Counsellor
Counsellor in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire
There are many barriers for clients wanting counselling; financial, physical, emotional and intellectual amongst others. I aim to provide an environment and the tools to help you explore your emotions and enable you to understand and change the way you’re feeling.
As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), you can be assured that I work within their ethical framework guidelines.
Due to personal experience with spinal muscular atrophy, I have an insight into disability which some counsellors may not have. I am a firm believer and advocate of full inclusion in society and can provide you with the empathy, understanding and honesty you need to get through your issues.
I have previously worked in various fields of disability including schools and centres of learning for both children and adults with special needs. I currently work in a surgery with a high population of disabled clients and people with MS.
Although my specialism is disability, I also work with a range of other issues:
Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Sexual Orientation
Mood swings
Anger
Self esteem
Body image
Bereavement
