I have worked in private therapy practice for over ten years and during that time, I have helped many people with a wide variety of issues from managing stress, to overcoming life changing problems such as phobias, panic attacks, low self esteem and anxiety. Although some of the issues that people experience often appear to be similar, everyone is different and so each journey to overcoming the problem is unique too.
I am fully insured and hold a current DBS certificate. In addition to this, I am an approved Supervisor for The National Hypnotherapy Society and provide supervision for both newly qualified and experienced Hypnotherapists, as well as being a member of the joint National Counselling Society and National Hypnotherapy Society Professional Development and Supervision Committee.
HOW I WORK
Therapy is about working together to make the changes that you need to achieve the outcome that you want and many of us know someone who has received counselling to help them cope with a situation which is causing emotional problems or upset. Talking therapy provides a time and space where you can discuss these issues with someone who is trained to listen without judging you, whilst offering support and enabling you to develop further understanding and insights into your situation.
I draw upon a wide variety of influences within the field of talking therapies including Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Behavioural Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside counselling based approaches such as person-centred counselling and Human Givens, to help you explore your situation and feelings at your pace. Talking with someone who is impartial and who can offer a fresh perspective, can give you time to think and reflect, whilst considering choices and options to enable you to feel better and move towards where you want to be.
When you book an initial consultation, I will ask you to complete an online form before your appointment. This is important because the information you provide enables me to tailor your sessions to you and your experiences. During the consultation, we will go through the information you have provided and identify any underlying problems or beliefs which may be contributing to the situation that you would like to change. We will also explore the problem or issue in more depth and talk about what you would like to achieve from therapy as well as answering any questions you may have.
If you have a question or are unsure whether therapy is right for you, please contact me and I will do my best to answer your query. I offer a free initial consultation via phone or email.
