About Jayne Phillips Counselling

Trying to find the right therapist can be a daunting task. There are so many of us here, offering to work with different therapies and we are as individual as you are!

For some, taking that first step in reaching out for some support, can feel quite difficult, especially if you are not sure if it is the right thing to do. It can feel a little risky to reach out to a stranger when you may be feeling vulnerable, stressed or angry. To allow another person to see you in that way. However, taking that first step in contacting someone, is the first step of a new journey towards understanding your thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

I strongly believe that we all hold within us, the ability to make the necessary changes, enabling us to live a more fulfilling life.

The First Step?

If you feel that you would like to contact me, you can either email or telephone me, on my confidential mobile number, details above. There is no pressure to make an appointment; you can just make that initial contact as a ‘first step’. If you call and get my answerphone, could you please leave your name, number and a short message. My number is CONFIDENTIAL and I return calls ASAP, thank you!

If you decide you would like to book an Initial Assessment with me, I offer a half hour appointment, at a mutually agreed time and there is no charge for this first meeting.

This appointment is a chance for us to meet and decide whether we would like to work together. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions or share any concerns you may have.

Why Therapy?

Therapy can help with a range of issues such as stress, anxiety, panic and depression. It may be that you have suffered a bereavement or loss of some kind and you are struggling with a variety of emotions around that loss. You may be experiencing relationship/marriage difficulties and you are not sure which way to turn. I see individuals, as well as couples whilst dealing with relationship issues. I can also provide support for the next step which may involve a referral to a mediator for example. We travel together as you explore where you are heading and what steps you need to take.

For some people, they may not actually feel they have any BIG worry or concern but they just know, something does not feel quite right. The therapy I offer, can provide a space for you to talk and be listened to, properly. To be listened to with empathy, not sympathy and with non-judgemental acceptance. A place where you can explore thoughts and emotions, that may be difficult to explore with those closest to you. If you feel you may not be able to find any words, that is fine. There is no right or wrong way to ‘do’ therapy. You bring what you need to bring and together, we work with what you bring.
