About Time to talk
Hi, I’m Vicki. I am a counsellor and psychotherapist and I trained at the Sherwood Institute for Counselling and Psychotherapists following a long career in law. I have a passion for working with client’s who suffer with trauma, disability and diversity related issues. I work on developing a therapeutic relationship with you where you can feel safe to explore difficult and painful issues in a confidential setting; issues that you may not have been able to disclose to anyone before.
In counselling, you set the agenda for the sessions. It is your time to talk about issues that concern you whilst I listen, empathise and check my understanding with you. Counselling is not telling you what to do, it is about walking alongside you. It is a journey of joint exploration of the problems you are facing whilst being contained in a therapeutic relationship. This will provide the confidence and space for you to express yourself without fear of judgement whilst insights are developed that can alleviate your painful feelings.
Your first session
In the first session you will have an opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling and to see how counselling might work for you. If we decide that we can work together, then we can arrange further sessions, which can range from just a few to longer term therapy, according to your needs. You are free to terminate counselling at any time. (This first session is chargeable at the normal fee rate).
