I work as an integrative counselling therapist which means that I believe that everyone is different and therefore I adapt the way I work to best suit the individual I am sitting with. However, the basis of this integration is relational. Relationships form the backbone of our lives, we are born striving to make connection and as a result our early relationships and connections often impact us later in life. I use our therapeutic relationship together to help us explore how you form realationships and make sense of them in the wider world. This in turn helps you to begin to improve relationships outside of the therapy room.
The clients that I see often present with a wide range of difficulties:
- Depression and/or anxiety
- Relationship difficulties
- Trauma and PTSD
- Mental illness
- Historical and current abuse
- Difficuties regulating emotions
- Stressful life events
- Bereavement and loss
- Self-harm and suicide
- Feeling isolated
- Alcohol and substance misuse
- Life changing physical disabilities
- Difficulties around sleep
- Difficulties around identity
- Sexual orientation
Whilst these are common reasons to go to counselling the list is not conclusive, and many more difficulties are brought to therapy.
