About Gaynor Bodsworth at Tailored Services – Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Hello I am Gaynor, Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

Making a decision to seek counselling is a big step which I feel can take a lot of personal courage.

Finding the right counsellor you feel comfortable talking to can be a real concern. I understand that naturally you may be feeling apprehensive and nervous about making contact. Clients often ask me all sorts of questions during an initial consultation such as: What exactly is counselling? What type of counselling will I need?  What should I expect from counselling sessions? How many sessions of counselling will I need? Can counselling help me?

Your First 15 Mins Telephone Consultation is FREE & INFORMAL where I will do my best to help you feel at ease as you share any problems you may be struggling with.  Together we can have a warm, friendly open discussion about whether counselling will be the most suitable kind of support for you at this time, and if so which therapy approach.  I am highly committed to helping people find the right support and help they need. The initial discussion will help to allay any concerns you may have.  Please feel free to get in touch with me today to allay any concerns you may have.

Following our initial discussion you can decide whether you would like to make an assessment appointment.  Should you decide to go ahead with further counselling sessions we will discuss together how many sessions may be required.

Counselling sessions are usually weekly however, can be on a fortnightly or monthly basis to take into consideration different requirements and budgets you may have.

My foremost concern when counselling is offering a safe and confidential space for clients to talk openly. I feel privileged when clients share their personal life stories and value the therapeutic relationship based on trust, genuine respect, empathy and non judgemental acceptance.  I have a warm friendly approach and aim to help you feel respected, valued and understood, never judged.  We will work together as a team to find ways of helping you manage the problems/difficulties you are experiencing. Counselling can naturally bring to the surface difficult and painful feelings/emotions, this is why I believe feeling safe and supported is essential. I will work with you to maintain the highest level of care, commitment and professionalism at all times.

My Therapy Approach

I practice from an Integrative perspective which means I use my knowledge and experience in ways that combine theoretical theory and skills from Humanistic, Solution Focussed and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I believe no single theoretical approach ‘fits all’ and each person has unique needs, expectations and preferences of therapy type and style. I work  collaboratively with each individual tailoring my approach to suit specific needs. My approach maximises opportunities for you to manage life problems and difficulties, improve relationships and help you make the positive changes you want in your life.

Client Testimonials

It is probably safe to say that I was on the verge of being suicidal when I first worked with Gaynor. I had just discovered my husband was having an affair. He continued to lie about the relationship for over three months during which it was our daughters’ wedding, my birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary.

From the very first session, Gaynor gave me techniques to use at home to keep me safe. It might have been a saying or an action but those were literally ‘life savers’. Once the initial horror of what was happening calmed down, I then worked on improving my own self-esteem and learning to cope with life’s ‘knocks’. I learnt how manage my anxiety (which stopped me eating) . With Gaynor’s help I was able to see that relationships I had with other members of my family were so destructive, I was unable to say clearly what I wanted (probably because I didn’t even know what I wanted – it had been beaten out of me as a child). I learnt about ME. I learnt how my own behaviours can impact on others. I learnt not to ‘rush in’ but to deliberate about what I want. I learnt to say ‘no’.

I have come out of the ‘other side’ a calmer, more thoughtful, more resilient individual. I still have some way to go in terms of improving my self-esteem but I can do that in my own time. The urgency of keeping myself safe has now receded.

I’m sure I could not have coped without Gaynor at the time of the discovery and subsequent lying and her continued support in my recovery has led me to be a stronger more rounded individual.

I’m her biggest fan!!
