About Esther Glennon MBACP Dip Couns

There may be occasions in life when there is no support in times of difficulty. Have you past issues that may have not been disclosed and it is now affecting your life? Are you suffering from anxiety or depression, relationship issues or abuse? Do you find yourself not remembering parts of your life and getting anxious without realising why? This can be your body remembering some forms of trauma, although your mind does not. It can be hard dealing with this alone, so I am here to listen and encourage you to talk about how you feel. Together we can work through these issues at your own pace.

My passion lies with providing support for people who have suffered sexual abuse and some who may have used alcohol or drugs as a coping mechanism. I have worked as a counsellor in sexual abuse and substance misuse agencies in my local area and still offer my services voluntarily on a weekly basis.

My personal experiences of both of these issues has given me the drive to carry on in this line of work. I feel it is important for survivors to be able to discuss their issues with someone who can understand the difficulties faced within relationships, and also how they cope with general life events. I regularly attend courses to enhance my own professional personal development which enables me to provide a better service to my clients.

I take time to discuss with each individual your reasons for coming to counselling, and use many different therapy approaches to suit your needs. I believe it is important to promote every persons wellbeing and offer a confidential, supportive service for my clients. I use relaxation techniques and provide you with tools to use, in order to regulate your emotions.

Therapies offered:
Person centred: A non directive approach which believes in your ability to make the right choices and your potential to make changes needed.
Psychodynamic: which looks at how early childhood experiences and unresolved conflicts may be influencing the present.
CBT: Looks at how our thoughts affect your feelings and behaviour.

I am a member of the BACP and abide by their Ethical Framework of Good Practice. I hold my own personal liability and indemnity insurance.

I offer 50 minute sessions on a weekly basis. Sessions are tailored to the individual, so may be short or long term.

The fees are:
£40 per 50 minute session / evenings & weekends
I provide home visits in certain circumstances, which we can discuss at initial consultation if needed.
Some concessions available.
I believe you have to be able to be comfortable with the person you see, so I offer a FREE initial consultation over the phone. We can then agree a time to meet at your convenience.
