Counselling Psychology Kent

I have worked in mental health for over 20 years. Initially as a Mental Health Nurse, and now as a Counselling Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I have Health and Care Professionals Registration which provides the statutory regulation required in the UK to practice as a Counselling Psychologist. I am Chartered with the British Psychological Society and have Associate Fellow Status. I am also a fully accredited British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I work as a Senior Counselling Psychologist within the NHS and in my private practice I offer counselling and psychological therapy for a very wide range of difficulties. I have extensive experience working with people who present with many different emotional and psychological difficulties, such as problematic relationships, trauma, sadness and loss, anxiety and depression, alongside other complex enduring mental health conditions. I provide a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship where confidentiality and the space to explore thoughts and feelings in a nonjudgemental relationship is paramount. Within the therapeutic work we can often identify repetitive patterns of behaviour and this awareness can result in a greater understanding of your self, and self in relation to others. The insight gained in therapy helps improve communication within personal relationships, which can result in symptom relief. Cognitive Therapy can also help us learn to explore and change our thoughts and beliefs, behaviour, physical responses and emotions, especially where over time this has lead to unhelpful patterns that have got stuck or maintained often in vicious cycles. I also practice in Eyemovement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Hypnotherapy which offer alternatives or can be provided in combined treatment.
