About Counselling with Zana

I want you to feel positive, confident and fulfilled, as well as equipped to deal with life's challenges along the way. I work 1-1 with adults of all ages and I also specialise in pregnancy, birth and becoming a parent.

Finding a counsellor who feels like the right "fit" is important, so if you'd like to find out more about how I work please read on, look around my website, and do get in touch to ask me anything.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2010 and have been working 1-1 with adult clients ever since. I'm reasonably educated, have had a few challenges in life, I'm female and maybe a bit beyond middle-aged! I think I'm warm, approachable and have a down-to-earth personality. I aim to provide a place where you feel safe, respected and heard.

I work 1-1 with adults of all ages who come with a wide range of issues. In addition, I specialise in working with feelings, thoughts, situations, challenges, etc that arise from pregnancy, birth and adjustment to parenthood, whether those events are coming up, recent or way back in the past.

I believe counselling should be an holistic process. Thoughts are just one part of a person. Mind and body are interlinked and sometimes moving the focus away from thinking and logic can be more therapeutic. We might use creativity, focused breathing, relaxation, movement, exploring dreams, dialogue, etc if you are interested in doing so and when the time feels right for you. These kinds of alternative approaches can offer greater insight or connection and can also be used to develop coping strategies during more challenging times.

Throughout our working relationship I aim to help you feel heard, validated and more emotionally safe. You will be in control; if you're not ready to talk about a particular thing yet, that's OK. However, I might also gently encourage you in order for therapeutic change to take place. We can find the right balance together.

You can buy my e-booklet about anxiety here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anxiety-like-Smoke-Alarm-reduce-ebook/dp/B09DHY28ND/ It's only £1.77 and if you don't have a Kindle you can download a free reader for your device from Amazon.

Whatever you're struggling with do feel free to get in touch; email is usually best. There's more about me and how I work on my website and you can also contact me via my website.

I work from a dedicated room in my home near Totton, Hampshire. It's easy to find whether you're coming from New Forest, Romsey, Southampton or Winchester as it's just off a main road, and there's ample on-street parking. There are also nearby bus stops.
