About Evolve Counselling & Psychotherapy

Why counselling?
There are many reasons why you may be considering counselling. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety or depression; maybe there is something in your life which doesn’t feel quite right and you’d like to change; maybe you’re experiencing loss in some way, of a person or change in lifestyle; maybe you’d like to know more about why your life repeats similar patterns which you don’t find helpful.

I often come across people who have worries or concerns who don’t feel they can talk open and freely to their friends or family.

Counselling offers a safe, confidential space for you to talk through your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in order to better understand yourself and to identify changes you may wish to make. It offers a supportive environment to explore your life now, understand your past, in order to look to your future. Counselling helps raise self awareness in order to work on self development.

Talking things through in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space can help alleviate unhelpful feelings and thoughts and help you move towards a more positive way of living. Counselling offers the opportunity to achieve change: either the situation or the way you feel about it.

About Me
My name is Joanne Brown and I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Although my core training is in Transactional Analysis, I have an integrative approach to counselling so that my method is appropriate for your individual needs.
My professional background is largely in social care and I have over 20 years experience working with adults in various settings who have needed support or advice, and over the past five years I have transferred these skills over into developing my counselling career.

Some of the issues I have worked with include addiction, disability, offending, mental health, loss, grief, life limiting illness etc.

Through my extensive experience and training I have worked with people from many walks of life with many different life experiences. I believe that all people are unique and have their own individual needs. Therefore I aim to tailor any support to meet those needs – working together to find the best way for you to feel safe and to create the right environment to change as you wish.

I am a warm and compassionate person who is committed to supporting clients to help them to make their lives happier and feel more fulfilled.

What do I offer?
I provide a confidential, safe place to explore your fears, concerns and anxieties in a one-to-one setting.

We will work together to explore what is causing your concern and then work towards changes you may wish to make. The emphasis is on you and your desired outcomes, whilst supporting you through the process.

If you are considering counselling please feel free to contact me to book an initial session in which we can explore whether counselling is the right thing for you and if you feel comfortable, as the relationship between counsellor and client is key to facilitating a safe place to initiate change.

The sessions
I am currently offering online or telephone counselling.  But hope to resume face to face soon.

I offer the initial session at £20 to give you the opportunity to explore whether counselling is for you and whether I am the ‘right fit’ for you. Subsequent sessions are charged at £40. All sessions are 50 minutes.
