About Dr Sarah Shillingford CPsychol, PGDip

About me
I am a Counselling Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, my purpose is to help you to work through your difficulties and achieve your goals. I am fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL30793), chartered with the British Psychological Society (195197) and accredited with the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies (120768). I have substantial experience in working with a full range of difficulties associated with anxiety and depression, this includes
adult survivors of childhood trauma (including sexual abuse), stress and grief.

How I work
Due to my wide range of training, I am skilled at working with a number of therapeutic approaches and can cater my approach to reflect your needs. I am trained in CBT, Existential, Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Bereavement approaches. I believe that you are an expert in your own life and my aim is to come along side you to support you in addressing difficulties that may prevent you from living the life you want while also helping you to identify your qualities and achievements.

What you can expect in your first session
You will have space to speak about what has caused you to seek therapy and the kind of support you are looking for. I will then make some suggestions about what I think will be most helpful for you, of course your own view of things will be central to this. I offer both time limited and open ended therapy and we can speak about what option might be best for you.

Supervision
I am also available for clinical supervision in individuals and groups.

Support for trainee psychologists
I offer reduced rates for therapy and supervision for trainees on BPS accredited programmes.

Training, qualifications & experience
