About Talk to Frances Counselling

Experienced Counsellor working with Children, Young People and Adults of all ages. Qualified Addictions Counsellor Practitioner.

Maybe you have considered talking to someone but have felt unsure which way to turn, to take the first step towards therapeutic support? I am here to listen and help you.

I am an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, who is skilled in providing support tailored to individual needs and concerns a client has. I work Integratively from a Core Humanistic Base, also known as client centred therapy. This enables you as client to manage the work, and know where you may wish for support or challenge, to recognise changes and areas you might like to focus on. As well as being a member of the BACP, I have passed the certificate of proficiency, an enhanced level of quality in practice.

I am a Qualified Substance Misuse Counsellor and trained Bereavement Counsellor. I recognise the difficulties faced in the process of grief and coping with loss. The feelings of depression, anger, disbelief and shock. I am able to support those struggling with addictions across the scale, from seeking recovery, abstinence, relapse and the journey along the way.
I am a trained school Counsellor, having worked with children of all ages. I have worked in Primary and Secondary schools and agencies previously with children and young people.

I provide one to one counselling for both long and shorter term work. This could be a structured contract of 6-10 sessions, or ongoing where there are issues you would like to explore in depth.

I can also provide Group therapy sessions, and specialise in bereavement, transition and substance misuse groups. I also have experience working with post natal depression and children in groups.

I have over 20 years experience working with diverse communities, and incorporate culture and faith into my work as therapist. I have worked with clients with Complex Mental Health needs and those whose first language is not English. I support access to therapy for local minority groups, and Women’s health. I have a particular interest in this area, including post natal depression, children of a post natal mother and related attachment issues, and impact of women’s health conditions on the mind and body.

I work with children, young people and adults of all ages. I have worked extensively within complex bereavement, schools, substance misuse and addictions and general counselling services. As well as talking therapies, I use creative tools, play therapy, drama and masks, sand trays and chair work. I encourage clients bringing what they need too, such as music, keepsakes and memorials.
