About Nick Jones, Psychotherapist in Brentwood, Essex

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist with discreet, quiet and comfortable practices in Brentwood, Essex. My consulting room is easily accessible, within walking distance of both Brentwood station and the High Street.

I offer individual psychotherapy to people experiencing a range of emotional difficulties, or who have found themselves unable to find fulfilment in their work, relationships or family lives.

What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I work with the idea that our early experiences affect us in our adult lives, and that we are likely to repeat these experiences in later relationships. Psychotherapy can help us to understand more about these patterns – perhaps their cause, why they seem so persistent and how we might be able to do things differently.

Psychotherapy is an exploratory process and many concerns can be fruitfully brought to it. As well as helping to relieve problems such as anxiety, distress or destructive behavioural patterns, this type of therapy can help to make sense of such experiences. The therapeutic process can help achieve deep and long-lasting changes in self-awareness and self-acceptance, and facilitate the capacity to live a more fulfilling life.

Starting psychotherapy

Starting psychotherapy can feel daunting. You may have a number of questions to explore, and it can take some time to find the therapist you feel is right for you. Should you want to get in touch, please feel free do so by phone or by email, and we can arrange to meet for an initial consultation. This consultation would be an opportunity for you to put into words what has prompted you to seek therapy and for us to see if we can work together.

Should we decide to continue, sessions would be at the same time each week and last for fifty minutes. The regularity and consistency of sessions is helpful in providing a stable setting to explore deeper-lying issues.
