Angela Scott trained initially as a couple counsellor using a psychodynamic approach. The term psychodynamic comes from the Greek terms ‘psyche’ meaning mind, spirit or soul and the Greek term ‘dynamis’ meaning force or power. This type of counselling helps bring thoughts from the past, or those in our unconscious mind into the present, allowing us to become aware of them and helping facilitate change and shape our current behaviour.

Angela also offers a type of counselling called solution-focused brief therapy. This kind of counselling therapy focuses on a particular issue and promotes positive change, rather than dwelling on the issue or past problems. During the counselling session, the counsellor encourages you to focus positively on what you do well, your strengths and resources and to set goals to achieve the changes you want to make.

Ryan Dawes Ryan is a person-centred/experiential counsellor. He did his counselling training (a Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred and Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy) at the University of Strathclyde. Ryan is currently conducting research into the effectiveness of counselling especially for people on low incomes. He hopes this will form the basis of his Masters thesis in counselling.

Kathy Black is a fully qualified counsellor, and has an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and has undergone three years of counselling training. Her approach is all encompassing and includes parts of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt therapy, Person centred approach, and present moment work. As a counsellor, Kathy will work with you at your own pace to help you change your perception of situations that are difficult for you.
