About Emma Nilsson / New Leaf Counselling

I am a professionally qualified counsellor experienced in working with young people and adults and I offer a friendly, supportive, non-judgemental, safe space for you to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
If you are finding life difficult at the moment for whatever reason, then counselling could be the beginning of a happier and more fulfilling life style. Talking through issues that you are finding difficult to cope with or uncomfortable can help unburden you, increase your self-awareness, make you feel less alone and gain a new perspective, all of which can help empower you to make healthier choices.
I work as an Integrative Counsellor which means that I combine skills and tools from different theoretical approaches in order to provide you with personalised therapeutic support to help you express, explore, understand and work through issues. As well as using talking therapies such as CBT, person centred therapy, gestalt work and transactional analysis I can also offer creative approaches such as art, creative writing, play, visualisation, sand trays and mindfulness.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and an Accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS), I adhere to their Ethical Frameworks which ensures that I keep my clients’ best interests at the heart of my work.

I have worked alongside a wide range of clients from age 11-80 covering a huge variety of mental health issues from anxiety, depression, bullying and self-harm to bereavement, trauma and historic sexual abuse within both short and longer-term therapy.
I understand that making that first move towards finding a counsellor can be a daunting and scary experience and I know that it is extremely important to find a therapist that feels right for you. So please feel free to call for an initial chat, we can discuss what you are looking for and what you could expect from working with me so that we can both ensure that I would be the most suitable counsellor for you.
