About Lynda Thorley Counselling. Crewe and Nantwich

Hi, my name is Lynda and I am a Person-Centred Counsellor.

I provide a confidential counselling service for adults, couples and children from my office in Crewe, which provides a space where you can feel safe, comfortable and welcome. I also offer sessions online and by telephone. If you are reading this you might be wondering what coming to counselling is all about and how it might help you.

At times life can feel overwhelming and you may be finding it difficult to find a way through your problems and worries. You might be feeling isolated and alone with what is troubling you or may have family or friends who are trying to help and offer advice, but it can sometimes be difficult to be open and honest about how you are really feeling with those closest to you.

Counselling provides a confidential space where you can talk freely and openly without fear or defences and I can offer a warm, accepting, non-judgemental relationship where you can be truly heard. I do not offer advice or direction, but travel alongside and support you on your journey to find the solutions that fit you as an individual. Counselling can help you explore your worries objectively and can help build self-acceptance, self-esteem and confidence.

Sometimes our past life experiences have been set aside and the associated feelings left unacknowledged which can affect our relationships and way of being in the present. In working together, we can make sense of your past and present helping you to move forward with clarity and new insights towards a positive outcome. My aim with all my clients, both adults and children, is to build a relationship where it feels comfortable to be yourself, while you build a sense of who you are and how you relate to others.

When working with children I seek to adapt counselling sessions to each child’s age and individuality, working creatively with drawing, crafts and imaginative items to help aid self-expression and exploration. Working in this way helps to establish a trusting relationship where it feels safe to talk. I have experience of counselling children with varied emotional needs, from ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Disorders to those suffering from anxiety, depression, family breakdown, bereavement, bullying, self-harm, low self-worth and anger problems. I am happy to work creatively with adults if it feels beneficial to the client.

Aside from my private practice, I work as a school counsellor at a local high school counselling 11 to 16-year-olds and as an adult counsellor for a domestic abuse charity. Prior experience includes working for a well-known national mental health charity as a counsellor working with a wide variety of ages and presenting problems and training delivery of mental health and suicide awareness courses.

I am a member of the National Counselling Society and hold professional accredited status (NCS ProfAccred). I have a full disclosure and barring service check (DBS) and up to date safeguarding certificates for working with children and vulnerable adults.

Issues I can help with include but are not limited to- Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Low self-esteem, Relationships, Bereavement and loss, Pet Bereavement, Low self-confidence, Assertiveness, Bullying, Abuse, Family issues, Self-harm, Anger, Suicidal thoughts, Trauma, Living with an addict (co-dependency)
