Life can feel painful, lonely or confusing, or you may simply feel disconnected in a way that is hard to describe. Being able to discuss your thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment can help to clarify issues and lead to greater self understanding.

As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor I can provide you with a professional, private and strictly confidential counselling/psychotherapy service from my practice room in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire. There is disability access, and ample free parking. The location is within easy reach of Mansfield, Ollerton, Worksop, Retford, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Southwell and surrounding villages.

In a comfortable, respectful, relaxed and supportive environment I can offer you a personalised approach to support you in finding solutions to your problems and to make the necessary changes to enhance your life. Certain counselling styles suit some people more than others so I draw from a range of approaches to provide the right support for you. I put great emphasis on our creating a strong trusting relationship but one which is respectful of your uniqueness and which acknowledges that you are the expert of your experiences.

I provide both short term counselling, where we can work through a specific problem, and longer term psychotherapy where deeper issues can be explored. We will review progress regularly ensuring your needs are being met.

TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
I have a Masters (MSc) in Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Counselling from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (accredited through Coventry University) and I am a fully accredited clinical Psychotherapist member of the United Kingdom Council of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I work to their strict ethical code. I am also a member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

In addition, prior to concentrating solely on my psychotherapy business, I was a sexual offences specialist lawyer and senior manager working with the Crown Prosecution Service for the past 25 years. My motivation to become a psychotherapist stemmed from my desire to understand the experience of survivors of sexual abuse and to improve how the legal system supported them. Working in this challenging role I can readily appreciate the stresses and challenges that a pressurised environment can bring.

I also regularly lecture for the BACP, and I also hold consent workshops for young professional footballers.

I deal with all areas of counselling including:

FEES

I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation which enables you to ask any questions and to assess whether I am a suitable therapist for you.

If you feel comfortable working with me we would schedule an assessment session (which may last longer than the usual 60 minutes) charged at £40. This involves a discussion about you, your history, your needs, aims and expectations for counselling/psychotherapy and is also a further opportunity for you to confirm if you would like to work with me.

Subsequent sessions (usually weekly) thereafter are:

Individual Therapy £40 (60 minutes)

Concessions (£35) are offered to students.

I have full indemnity insurance.
