About Invivo Counselling by Matt Ratcliffe

Hi there,

I’m Matt Ratcliffe, a BACP Registered Integrative counsellor with extensive experience of working with clients across a wide range of issues. My private practice is in Selby, North Yorkshire.

I believe our experiences in life are at the heart of who and what we are. At times, we all feel pain, loss, confusion, anger, frustration and sadness. Sometimes it might feel like there’s something missing from our lives. We can often lose our way and struggle to be the people we want to be.

I offer Integrative Counselling (Person-centred, Psychodynamic and CBT model), which helps to understand our lives and problems, and make sense of our thoughts and feelings. When we do this we can accept, understand and change our lives for the better, both in the present and the future.

Counselling helps us:

* explore our thoughts & feelings
* make sense of our experiences
* increase our self-awareness
* form new perspectives & options
* develop awareness and skills and an ability to make choices for ourselves.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapists) and abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.

As a fully qualified therapist my qualifications include:

CPCAB Adv. Diploma Integrative Therapeutic Counselling
AQA / BACP Counselling Skills Levels 2 & 3
BA (Hons) Fine Art
I hold an Enhanced DBS check and am fully insured with Holistic Insurance Services.

My past experience includes providing counselling services at Sheen Lane NHS Health Centre in Surrey and at the No. 5 Young People’s Counselling Service in Reading. Since then I have established SHINE, a charity providing counselling for young people in the Selby area. In addition to my counselling work I also enjoy my role as a college tutor working with students taking NCFE Level 2 Counselling Skills courses.

I offer an initial consultation free of charge so that we can meet each other, explore your expectations of therapy and answer any questions you have. From there you can see if it’s for you, without pressure or obligation.

Individual counselling sessions are 60 minutes long and are held weekly, although this is tailored to suit the needs of the client. Sessions are £40 per session. As I believe counselling should be accessible to everyone I also offer some concessions at negotiated fees for those clients on low income or social benefits.

Please contact me with any questions or queries and I’ll always respond. Thank you.
