Online Talking Counselling — Therapy That Fits You
Online counselling and psychotherapy across the UK. Personalised matching, multilingual therapists, trauma-informed care.
About Talking Counselling
Talking Counselling is a UK-based online counselling and psychotherapy practice offering accessible, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed therapy to individuals and couples. Founded by Anh Doan, an experienced counsellor and clinical lead, we exist to make high-quality mental health support easier to find, easier to begin, and easier to trust.
Our team is made up of qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, and psychologists registered with the leading professional bodies in the UK — including the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), and the British Psychological Society (BPS). These accreditations are not decorative. They are evidence of rigorous training, hundreds of supervised clinical hours, a strict ethical framework, and ongoing professional development that every one of our practitioners is held to.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, healing from trauma, repairing a relationship, or simply trying to make sense of where you are in life, our role is to walk alongside you — at your pace, in your language, and on terms that respect who you are.
Our Approach: Personalised, Culturally Sensitive, Trauma-Informed
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. The same approach that helps one person can feel completely wrong for another. That is why everything we do begins with matching.
When you contact us, you do not join a waiting list or get handed to whoever happens to have a slot. Instead, we listen first — to your concerns, your preferences, your cultural background, your first language, and the kind of support you are looking for. We then hand-pick a counsellor whose training, lived experience, and therapeutic style genuinely fit your needs.
Our practice is built on three commitments:
Multilingual. Our team offers therapy in 13 languages, including Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Spanish, Farsi, and others. Being able to speak in your first language during therapy often unlocks emotional material that English alone cannot reach — particularly for clients from migrant, diaspora, and bilingual households.
Culturally matched. Mental health does not exist in a vacuum. Family expectations, migration history, faith, racialised experience, and intergenerational trauma all shape how we feel and how we heal. Working with a therapist who understands — culturally, not just clinically — makes a measurable difference to outcomes.
Trauma-informed. Every member of our team is trained to hold safety, pacing, and choice as foundational principles. We do not push you to share more than you are ready to. Healing happens at the speed of trust, and we honour that.
Who We Work With
We support adults and couples across the UK and, where ethically and legally appropriate, internationally. Our clients include:
Individuals living with anxiety, depression, burnout, or persistent low self-worth
Couples and partners working through communication breakdowns, infidelity, intimacy issues, or major life transitions
Adults processing childhood trauma, attachment wounds, or relational patterns that keep repeating
Members of migrant, diaspora, and refugee communities seeking culturally informed support
LGBTQ+ clients looking for an affirming and inclusive therapeutic space
Professionals and parents managing chronic stress, identity questions, or work–life pressure
People who have tried therapy before and want something that feels genuinely different
If you are not sure whether therapy is right for you, that is also a perfectly normal place to start. A short initial conversation will help you decide — with no pressure to commit.
What We Offer
Anxiety Therapy — £50 per session
Anxiety is far more than ordinary worry. It can show up as overthinking, perfectionism, restlessness, sleep problems, panic, irritability, or the quiet sense that something is always slightly wrong. Our anxiety therapy helps you understand what is driving these patterns and gives you practical, evidence-based tools to manage them.
We draw on approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based work, and trauma-informed practice — tailored to your situation rather than applied off the shelf. The aim is not just to reduce symptoms but to help you feel more in control, more at ease in yourself, and more able to live the life you actually want.
Couples Therapy — £125 per session
Relationships are one of the most rewarding — and most demanding — parts of being human. When communication breaks down, trust is shaken, or distance grows between you, it can feel impossible to find your way back on your own.
Our couples therapists are trained in established relational frameworks including the Gottman Method, Imago Relationship Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). We work with couples on:
Communication and conflict patterns (including the Gottman “Four Horsemen”)
Rebuilding trust after betrayal or breach
Intimacy, desire, and sexual connection
Navigating life transitions — parenthood, blended families, career change, retirement
Pre-marital and pre-commitment work
Cross-cultural and bilingual partnerships
Therapy is not about deciding who is right. It is about understanding each other again, and choosing — clearly and consciously — what you want to build next.
Our Counsellors and Psychotherapists
Every therapist at Talking Counselling is qualified, accredited, and works under regular clinical supervision in line with the standards of their registering body. Many of our practitioners hold post-qualification specialisms in trauma, couples and relationship therapy, sexual health, child and adolescent work, and cross-cultural practice.
We also run a structured trainee placement programme, which means we actively contribute to the next generation of UK counsellors. It also means our practice culture is one of continual learning, reflection, and accountability. Trainees are carefully selected, clinically supervised, and matched only to clients where their level of training is appropriate — and clients are always informed.
In short: when you work with us, you are not gambling on a stranger from a directory. You are working with someone whose training, ethics, and clinical fit have been considered before your first session.
How It Works
Get in touch. Send us a short message via our website or email. You do not need to explain everything — a few sentences is enough.
Initial conversation. We will get back to you to understand what you are looking for, answer any questions, and check whether we are the right fit.
Therapist match. We hand-pick a counsellor based on your needs, preferences, language, and the issues you want to work on.
Begin therapy. Sessions take place online via a secure, confidential video platform. You can attend from home, the office, or anywhere private with a stable connection.
Everything we do is GDPR-compliant and bound by professional codes of ethics around confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding.
Fees and Accessibility
We believe in transparent, fair pricing — no hidden costs and no surprises:
Individual Therapy — £50 per session (50 minutes)
Couples Therapy — £125 per session (60 minutes)
All sessions are delivered online and confidentially, so you can access therapy from the comfort of your own space, without the commute, the waiting room, or the diary juggling. For clients in different time zones, evening and weekend availability is often possible.
Begin Your Journey
Reaching out is often the hardest part. You do not need to have the right words, a clear diagnosis, or a tidy story. You only need to be willing to start a conversation.
Therapy is not just about talking. It is about feeling heard, validated, and empowered to live differently. Whatever you are carrying — anxiety, grief, relationship strain, the weight of something you have never told anyone — there is a place for it here.
Your mental health deserves care. We would be honoured to be part of how you find it.
