Ann-Louise McCarthy Psychotherapy

I am Ann McCarthy and I am a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Supervisor. I am also a member of CPJA (Council for Psychoanalytic and Jungian Analysts). I provide Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment, providing one-to-one therapy for both adults and older adolescents. This can be on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. Our work together will focus on identifying, better understanding and working through the issues that are impacting negatively on your life so you are able to develop positive changes within yourself and in your ways of relating to others.

Although I am psychoanalytically trained, I offer a person-centred, attachment focused Psychotherapy service in a non judgemental, confidential environment.

It can be difficult to take the first steps towards therapy and I am empathic and sensitive to the worries that may arise in regards to reaching this important decision. Your requirements and how you wish for the therapy to proceed is discussed during the initial assessment appointment. It is important that you are comfortable with both the mode of practice and the person you will be entering into the therapy process with. During the initial appointment I will explain what to expect in therapy sessions and will respond to any questions or concerns you may have. It is also an opportunity for you to explore whether being in therapy with me would feel safe and comfortable. After this appointment you can then decide whether you would like to proceed with further sessions.
The therapeutic work that we undertake together is collaborative and taken at a pace that is right for you. I offer both shorter term and long term therapy.
I provide both in person as well as online Psychotherapy.
The fee for both assessment appointments of 90 minutes and regular sessions of 50 minutes is £75.00.

I provide Supervision for Psychotherapists who are trained Psychoanalytically, as well as Psychotherapists trained in other modalities. Supervision can take place either in person in the Whitstable, Kent area, or online. The fee for 50 minute sessions is £75.00.
