About Rachel Durrant Counselling

My name is Rachel Durrant and I completed my three year degree course in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at Roehampton University initially working with young people and women who had experienced domestic violence. Since then I have undertaken a range of further training and have experience of working with adults, adolescents and children who have
social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in primary education.

I believe that people are unique individuals with different ways of coping with living in the world and find that by working integratively I am able to adapt my work to suit you and your individual needs. My approach draws on different theories and strategies including psychoanalytic attachment theory, neuroscience, solution focused ideas and creativity (especially with children) encompassing art, clay and sandtray work.

Some of the issues I have worked with include anxiety, stress, depression, loss (bereavement, parental seperation/divorce), self-harm, suicidal thoughts, abuse, domestic violence, family and romantic relationships, gender dysmorphia, body dysmorphia, social anxiety and selective mutism.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I abide by their Code of Ethics in my work.

If you would like to know more about the different forms of therapy please visit the BACP website on www.bacp.co.uk

My qualifications & training include:

BSc Integrative Counselling

PG Cert Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Wellbeing

Workshops on Safeguarding Children, Rape & Sexual Abuse, Working with Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Understanding Asbergers Syndrome, Helping Children Express their feelings using Clay, Art and Sandtray, plus many more.
