About Faye Wilson Counsellor BSc, MSc, MBACP

About Me:

I am a fully qualifed counsellor, and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). The BACP is one of the UK’s biggest counselling organisation, and I use their ethical framework and standards to guide my practice. I am insured, and I have an up to date DBS Certificate.

I have my office in an elegant, old gentleman’s residence in Hallow, 3 miles from Worcester city centre. The house and grounds are beautiful, and it is a great place for therapy to take place.

I decided to train as a counsellor because I have always been interested in people; listening to them, learning from them, helping them. I love what I do; to be able to walk alongside somebody in their time of need is such a privilege.

Personally, I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a dog owner. I love losing a day in a book, the countryside, good food and holidays! I have suffered from anxiety and depression, so I know how scary it can be to ask for help, to speak out, to share those scary thoughts and feelings. I will not pretend that our journey’s are similar or the same, but I think it is important for you to know I have sat on the other chair in the counselling room. I found counselling an amazing experience where I learnt so much about myself. I really hope I can help you along your journey, like my counsellor helped me.

About My Approach:

I work predominately in a Person-Centred way, and follow the work and teachings of Carl Rogers. This approach really emphasises the importance of the relationship between the counsellor and the client, and the need for me to be as empathic, non-judgemental and as ’real’ as possible. These core conditions allow growth and development; being valued and prized as a person can help you accept yourself, reconnect with who you really are, and make changes in your life.

I create a safe, warm and supportive space for you to explore your emotions, to make sense of your situation, to re-examine your relationships and think about yourself. We can discuss your life experiences, difficult decisions, relationships, your home or work life, your past, new ways to cope, anything you want.

The Person-Centred approach highlights the need for the client to be in control. I work in a non-directive way, ensuring that we talk about what you want to talk about, at your own pace. This is so important to me, because of course, you are the expert in your own life. In our sessions, I will sometimes challenge you, but I will never give you advice, or push you to talk about something you don’t want to. I will encourage you to lead the way, but you will have me walking alongside with you, helping you on your journey.

Sometimes, clients find it useful if I draw upon other approaches such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Personal Coaching. These approaches can offer some real insight into the way your mind might be working, and how you have the power to change the way you think. I use worksheets to help us work through these techniques and track your progress.

I am very lucky to have my office in a beautiful, historic building in the countryside. Weather permitting, we can always have a ’walk and talk session’ in the building’s grounds. My approach to counselling will be the same as in an indoor session, but you might find the fresh air and being in nature helpful. Again, we can talk about this in your first session.

Location Information

My office is located in Hallow Park in the pretty village of Hallow. Hallow Park is an elegant, old building, built as a gentleman's residence just after World War 1. It has had a number of uses in the past, but now contains many private offices where mine is one of them. The bulding has beautiful surroundings and views, so an ideal place to come for peace and 'me time'.

Hallow is on the A443, only 3 miles north of Worcester, and Hallow Park is situated in the south-eastern side of Hallow, close to Hallow Church. Hallow Park has ample free car parking and is easy to get to by car from Worcester and the surrounding areas of Stourport-On-Severn, Ledbury, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Kidderminster, Hagley, Tewkesbury, Hereford, Great Malvern, Pershore, and Droitwich.

Opening Times

Daytime, evening & weekend appointments available.
