Life always has something to throw at us, and sometimes it can become too much to cope with on our own. Family and friends may be supportive but sometimes you need someone separate to talk to. Things happen that we don't anticipate - death, relationship breakdown, illness, changes at work. Other times, things creep up on us slowly until, seemingly without warning, we find ourselves overwhelmed. Sometimes we need to reach out to someone and share how difficult we are finding it to cope with what is going on inside.
My counselling approach is mainly person-centred, which is a non-directive form of counselling based on providing a safe, and understanding relationship for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, to gain greater insight and self-acceptance. Within this person-centred relationship, I may work integratively using ideas from other approaches to help you get the most out of your therapy, in a way that is holistic, personal and tailored to your needs, through a gentle therapeutic conversation.
My therapy room is based in Droitwich Spa, making it accessible to visitors throughout Worcestershire. I also offer telephone and online sessions for those who wish to work remotely or who may find getting to my therapy room difficult, perhaps because of physical or emotional issues. As well as running my private practice, Ember Counselling, I am an affiliate counsellor working with Employee Assistance Programmes to provide counselling support to local people and organisations. I have volunteered as an online counsellor with a London-based charity, and provided ad-hoc emotional support to clients of Droitwich Foodbank. I have previously worked as a counsellor with a local wellbeing centre, the Stroke Association, NEW College and Cruse Bereavement Care. I formerly volunteered for several years on the Worcester Samaritans helpline and supported the branch as a Deputy Director.
