Hi, I'm Mags and I'm a counsellor based in Halifax. I firmly believe that counselling can help anyone, not just when something specific has happened to us but also when we know we just don't feel right.
I'm primarily a person centred counsellor which means I'm not the expert here, you are. It's your life and you're the one living it so I'm not going to tell you what to do or guide you into making decisions. My role is to make you feel comfortable and psychologically safe enough to talk about the things that are troubling you. By talking to me about what's been going on for you and working through what's going on in your head, hopefully together we can help you make sense of how you feel and what (if any) changes you'd like to make in your life.
As you've probably realised I'm quite informal in my approach, I won't baffle you with lots of counselling jargon but I will treat you with respect and what I hope to do is make you feel better than you did before you came to see me.
I've worked with both young people and adults and some of the reasons they have come to see me have included dealing with: domestic abuse, depression, sexual abuse and rape, anxiety, redundancy, affairs and betrayals, grief, long term mental health issues, alcohol addiction amongst others.
