As a BACP Accredited and Registered Counsellor, I offer an initial consultation for 30 minutes at no charge to help you choose the counsellor that is right for you, no easy task. This gives you the opportunity to meet me, talk briefly about your requirements and raise any questions you may have about our work together. Following this initial meeting, you may choose to proceed with an assessment and further sessions at £50 per session.
I gained my Diploma in Professional Integrative Counselling in 2001 and in 2006 became a BACP Accredited Counsellor. I have gained extensive experience in face to face counselling on short and long term contracts, working in the voluntary sector, private practice, GPs surgeries and with healthcare staff in a large NHS Trust. I am also a Retired Registered Nurse, well used to working with those suffering the emotions associated with physical difficulties. Additional training, consolidated with further experience, includes the compassionate mind approach, cognitive behavioural interventions, transactional analysis (how we relate/transact with others and ourselves) and working with traumatic loss and bereavement, including specialist training in loss during pregnancy, at birth and infant loss.
I will help you choose how to use your counselling sessions. You may wish to explore your past to gain a better understanding of yourself and how you relate with others around you; or focus on the present, how you are thinking, feeling and behaving now, and learn strategies to live more comfortably in the future. I have the knowledge, skills and experience to work with either or integrate both ways of counselling – the choice is yours.
Please note my room is on the first floor with access is by stairs and no lift.
