About The Mindful Self

I moved to the UK from America. I have be studying psychoanalysis for nearly 10 years. Prior to developing The Mindful Self, I worked as a psychotherapist whilst teaching Psychology and Philosophy at the university level. Since moving to the UK, I decided to dedicate myself to psychotherapy and the treatment of mental health disorders. In addition to my counselling practice, I am a tutor for Human Development Scotland and a registered member of the BACP. Also, I have published works on a variety of topics from working with homeless individuals to treatment of mental health issues.

I specialise in stress and anxiety-related disorders. In addition, I have significant experience working with depressions, bereavement, and bipolar disorders. I can work with individuals, groups, couples, and families. Currently, I work with anyone from ages of 13+ years of ages. My services extend to working either in a face-to-face, telephone, and online setting. I use a confidential online forum to conduct all online sessions. I will work within a short-term (2 to 8 sessions) or a long-term (12+ sessions). In addition, I will also provide therapeutic consultations which operate as a 1-off conflict resolution session.

I have 5 years of counselling and psychotherapy experience. I have worked in a vast array of therapeutic techniques and methodologies. My primary approaches are Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I strive to provide talk therapy services, behavioural activation therapies, mindfulness education, and daily life consultations structured to enable individuals to seek the value driven life. What do I mean by “value driven”? I acknowledge that everyone is different and seeks various life goals.

What can you expect from individualised sessions?

Individualised therapy sessions are structured to allow the you to speak freely in a non-judgmental and safe environment. The first session will include a full psychosocial evaluation. I will learn about your external world to enable a further understanding of your personal circumstances. After the first session, you and I will engage in open dialogue. Sessions will vary by day and by person. However, you can expect to experience a range of emotions and feelings. As your therapist, I am here to guide you in the most professional and safe way possible.

What can you expect from mindfulness and educational seminars?

Seminars are structured to provide a fun and enjoyable environment to learn about the body, emotions, human psychology, and the self. All seminars are experiential learning. This means that participants are active and engaged in most aspects of the seminar. Each seminar will address a different topic across the range of health, nutrition, relationships, and psychological wellness.

As a company, The Mindful Self believes that wellness should be a thought for all people. The services are structured to fit any budget, lifestyle, and need. Remember that sometimes, you should mind yourself.
