About Craig Coventry Counselling and Psychotherapy

I run a professional and confidential counselling and psychotherapy practice based in Guildford and Woking, Surrey. I have gained experience in working with a wide range of issues as a result of working in organisational settings, college environments and in my private practice.

There are many reasons why people decide to come into counselling.
It could be that you are dealing with high levels of stress, anxiety, loss, or you may be having difficulties in your relationships. You may feel depressed, held back by low self-esteem or trying to escape the grips of a destructive addiction.

Whatever the reason you decide to come into therapy, rest assured that I will provide a warm, friendly, confidential and professional counselling service. I understand that making the first contact is often the hardest step for many people.
What therapy offers you is the time and space to work through your difficulties, with a skilled and qualified professional, in a confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am an integrative practitioner who primarily works in a ‘Person-Centred’ manner. This means that my work is focused on helping you get in touch with your emotional and psychological processes in order for you to understand and accept your experiences. This then allows for you to learn how to navigate yourself through them. As an integrative practitioner, I will adapt my way of working to include other approaches to therapy in order to remain flexible to individual client’s needs. This may mean reviewing past relationships and experiences- as our current states and ways of managing are affected by our past experiences. In other cases, the work is much more focused on what is happening in the present, in the ‘here and now’.

Therapy sessions last for 50 minutes and are held at the same time each week. I offer both short-term and long-term/open ended contracts and offer a discount for the initial consultation. The initial consultation is where you are provided with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and for me to understand why you have decided to come into therapy and how I can best be of help to you. Importantly, the initial session is for us both to decide if we can work together. It is important that you feel comfortable with your choice of therapist and that we can build a working relationship that will enable exploration and growth for you to work through the difficulties you arrive with.
