About Julia Haygreen, Counsellor and Psychotherapist at The Counselling Alliance Ltd in West Byfleet & Dorking near Woking and Guildford in Surrey
At times when you may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, alone and finding life difficult, counselling can be helpful. I am here to support you.
Connection and communication with others is an essential part of life, particularly at times of difficulty, crisis, heightened anxiety and isolation. It is human nature to grow and develop by relating to other people, in personal or professional relationships or through shared interests or experiences. When this becomes difficult to do, when something in life changes, when you feel isolated or withdrawn and don’t know how to get back on track, I am here to help. I will offer support, clarity, gentle guidance and an impartial ear to listen as you work towards gradually feeling more connected with yourself and others. Within this safe and supportive relationship, we work together to create positive change in your life.
I can support you to, among others;
Work through present difficulties
Focus on a specific issue, crisis point or experience in your life
Connect with and identify your feelings
Manage difficult feelings such as anger, guilt or shame
Address difficult or challenging relationships
Make relationship decisions
Understand yourself better
Repair old and familiar patterns that are no longer working or perhaps never made you truly happy
Heal from past experiences and trauma
Discover the unknown about yourself
Accept parts you may be less comfortable with because they make you human and whole
Increase self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence
Develop a positive outlook
Embrace new opportunities
Feel free from people-pleasing
Build ways to better self-care
Experience deeper relationships with yourself and others which feel more genuine and fulfilling
As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer a safe, private and accepting space for you to talk things through. Talking with me separately from your friends or family and feeling emotionally safe and understood may help you to open up more because I will not judge or give advice. Our time together will involve me helping you to work through your experiences and become more aware of your feelings, behaviours and thoughts. Together we will look at how to develop self awareness and self acceptance and to find your own voice when relating and communicating with others, which will enable you to move forward.
Certain counselling styles suit some people differently to others, so I draw from a range of approaches to provide the right support to meet your individual needs.
With my support and gentle guidance, these are all possible;
Healing from old wounds
Freedom from the past
Recovery from unhelpful patterns

Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you work with?
I am welcoming and inclusive to all adult individuals over 18 yrs.
How long does a session last?
Counselling and psychotherapy sessions last for 50 minutes each.
What is the fee for counselling?
The fee is £55 for daytime sessions and £60 for evening sessions (5pm onwards). An initial consultation phone-call is free.
Do you give counselling online?
Yes, I offer counselling in-person, by telephone and online using video conferencing (Zoom/WhatsApp). Please contact me to find out more.
What outcome can I expect from counselling?
In general, people start to feel better soon after starting counselling because there is a sense of having support and starting to look after themselves which improves self esteem and a more positive outlook towards goals and well-being. Outcomes include; having addressed and worked through the issue that brought you to counselling; reached the goals you set out to achieve; changes and improvements in your daily life outside our sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed is different for everyone. I provide short, medium and long-term counselling and psychotherapy depending on your individual needs. Regular reviews will enable us to look at your therapy process and where you feel you are within your counselling experience. A planned ending session is always recommended to make sure we end in a helpful and healthy way.
Is our work together confidential?
Everything you say is treated with respect and in strict confidence, apart from rare exceptions concerning risk. In addition, I undertake regular supervision of my work, always keeping your identity anonymous, which maintains working in your best interest and supports professional development.
How do I book an appointment?
Please contact me by telephone or email with an outline of the issue/s you would like to talk through in counselling. We will agree a time and date for an initial session which offers you an opportunity to get a sense of how we may work together. This session is chargeable at the same rate as outlined above because the process and benefit of counselling begins in the very first session. If you would like to continue and we both agree that some more sessions would be beneficial then we will arrange when to meet next.
How do I get in touch?
Please call me on 07855 033993 or email me at thecounsellingallianceltd@gmail.com. Your call is completely confidential.
Do I have to pay if I cancel?
Once we have agreed to meet regularly, advance notice is required regarding any changes to our scheduled appointments. No charge is incurred if we can re-schedule a session during the same week. However, if this is not possible the full fee is payable. This does not apply to scheduled changes or planned holiday arrangements. This enables me to manage appointments effectively and avoids appointments being unused. Appointments need to be used to achieve the full benefit from counselling. If I need to miss a session, notice will be given as far ahead as possible and no fee is due.
Supervision
I am a fully qualified Clinical Counselling Supervisor, offering supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists via in-person and online sessions.
My core therapeutic model is the Five Relational Model (Clarkson). This provides a framework for integration of different modalities (including Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Transpersonal, CBT, creative therapies) using five facets of therapeutic relationship in relational counselling.
I offer a collaborative, supportive and reflective supervisory space. I comply with BACP supervision standards and as a registered BACP Accredited practitioner I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework. My own work is supported in supervision and I hold full Professional Liability Insurance.
What are Counselling Supervision fees?
The fee for counselling supervision is £55 per 60 minute session, £80 per 90 minute session. Please contact me for further details and to discuss your supervision requirements.
Do you give counselling supervision online?
Yes, I offer counselling in-person and online using video conferencing (Zoom/WhatsApp). Please contact me to find out more.
Trainee Counsellors
I have extensive experience supporting students with personal therapy during counselling training. I provide a safe, trusting and wholly empathic space in which to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences both past and present. Working through transferences as they arise within our therapeutic relationship will help you become more aware of the impact of past experiences and relationships on your life today. Being able to explore this openly, honestly, with curiosity and genuineness and without judgement is a fundamental relational aspect of the way I work.
As training material may arise within or alongside your own therapeutic experience, I am mindful of maintaining a safe and boundaried space. Therefore, I work with minimal numbers of counselling students across a range of training institutions so that I can support your counselling process wholly impartially and without outside influence.
Concessions are available for trainee counsellors, please contact me for details.
