As an integrative counsellor I believe that we all think, feel and react in different ways. Because of this I feel important to work holistically by integrating different theories into my work to create a unique therapy adapted to suit your individual needs.
In my training I have developed a skills set which includes talking therapy, solution focused therapy, behavioural therapy and therapeutic art/play techniques and mindfulness.
If you decide that I am the right counsellor for you, we will work together with what you bring, with the understanding that we will not simply examine the problem/issue in isolation but as a part of your world, seeing it in the wider context of your life and history.
Counselling differs from any other relationship, as it provides interaction that is focused purely on you. Discovering what is important for you as an individual and learning to identify and use your inner resources to cope in times of stress, anxiety, bereavement, depression and emotional upheaval.
Within our counselling relationship you will be free to express yourself - there are no thoughts or feelings that are 'out of bounds'. Whatever thoughts or feelings arise, we will explore these together and try to understand them.
As your counsellor I will not give you advice or tell you what to do. Instead I use my skills, intuition and training to support you in finding your own way forward, while you rediscover and build upon your own self esteem and confidence.
My practice maintains a strict ethical code, as laid down by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and in doing so focuses on the needs of each person.
