About Rachel Waddington – BACP Registered Counsellor and Dip.Psych

I am a qualified counselling practitioner, with extensive psychological training and experience, which I bring to my relational approach with clients. My role is to help you make sense of your situation, your thoughts and feelings, through open communication and supportive challenge. I can help with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, pregnancy-related issues, career and work-related stress, life balance, weight issues, family issues or relationship difficulties, feeling sad, anger management, ‘otherness’ and trauma. I have significant experience working with issues of acquired disability, diagnosis of ill-health and prenatal diagnosis of disability. I offer a warm professional service within the boundaries of a safe, accepting, confidential and sensitive relationship. I work with empathy and respect to enable greater self-awareness and self-responsibility leading to improved confidence, empowerment and change.

I offer flexible daytime, evening and weekend appointments. My practice is located in a residential area close to M1 Junction 36 on the border of Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield. It’s within easy walking distance from the number 66 and 265 bus routes. On street parking is available. Face-to-face sessions last 50-60 minutes and can be flexible to work around shift patterns. At our initial session we will agree how we wish to work together and review this arrangement at least every six weeks.

DISABLED ACCESS: I have considerable experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, Disabled people and people with long-term health conditions. In the interests of inclusive practice, I offer home visits to people with health problems who may otherwise be prevented access to counselling. I also offer telephone counselling but prefer to meet you in person at least once first. My practice is currently undergoing building works which will create disabled access to the ground floor. To discuss your individual needs please contact me.

I am also a qualified and experienced coach. For more information about my coaching practice and fees please contact me or visit my website.
