About The Soul’s Call Counselling

Hello, I’m Ingrid. I offer counselling during the day and evening in Portishead BS20 and in central Bristol BS1 and BS3. Having worked in mental health and wellbeing all my life I have many years experience and would be pleased to meet you for an initial reduced cost session to find out what you are looking for and if I can help. My session fees are £45 for day time and £50 for evening sessions.

My approach to counselling is to help you work through your difficulties and uncover the meaning that may be hiding underneath – perhaps a need to stand up for yourself, to express parts of you that have remained hidden, to be allowed the feelings you have had to cover over for so long. By untangling the threads and feeling into what is really going on for us, paradoxically we are freed up to feel differently about ourselves.

This can help with a wide range of issues, such as:

Anxiety, anger, lack of confidence and self esteem
Addictive behaviour and self destructive habits
Exhaustion, depression, lack of motivation
Loss of direction / sense of meaning
Trauma, loss and bereavement
Abuse – sexual, physical, mental or emotional abuse and neglect
Conflicted identity including gender identity
Relationship problems and difficulties with intimacy and sexuality
Deciding to come to counselling takes courage. Just turning up may be a big step. Sometimes we do not understand why we are feeling rageful, fearful, low, lost, or lacking in meaning. We may feel very unsure. Sometimes we know there are things in the recent or more distant past that we need to acknowledge and come to terms with in order to move forward in life. Times of crisis and uncertainty can be a turning point but some things must fall away to give space for new growth.

What does this mean for you I wonder? What is your soul calling for?

I know from personal experience – both as a client and as a therapist – that talking therapy helps very many of us to feel more connected, more alive, more at one with ourselves, and more able to make choices that take us in the direction we want to be going. As your counsellor I would hope to help you discover what this means for you.
