I offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults and young people over 21 years of age, providing a warm, safe, confidential space where you can begin to explore whatever may be troubling you at this time. I also offer supervision to those who work in counselling and psychotherapy and offer discounted rates for those who work in the voluntary sector.

I am a Senior Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, with over twelve years experience running a successful private practice in Glastonbury, Somerset.  Alongside my private practice I have worked as a Qualification Leader on the qualifying Diploma in Counselling for one of the principal examination boards in the country, in a GP practice, in an agency specialising in eating disorders, as a counsellor in Further Education and  as a counsellor in the NHS First Steps Programme.  I have an Advanced Diploma, a Post Graduate Diploma and an MSc in Counselling and I recently completed a specialist qualification in Somatic Therapy, working with PTSD and Trauma.  I also have training in working with victims of domestic abuse, working with  self-harm, conflict resolution, working with victims of sexual abuse,  stress management, addictions and dual diagnosis,  and have a particular interest in spiritual crisis and alternative views on mental health.  I have some familiarity and understanding in working with boarding school syndrome recently attending a workshop delivered by Nick Duffell.  I also have trained with CRUSE bereavement care.

I have delivered training in all areas of counselling and specialised in delivering modules on professional practice, personal development, mental health and research. I have articles published within the profession, and continue to research and write. My latest book, co wrote with ex colleagues 'A Students' Guide to Therapuetic Counselling', will be published by Sage later this year (2019).

Counselling and Psychotherapy - sometimes also known as Talking Therapies can be helpful at many times in our lives, whether we are dealing with major life changes, feeling mentally or emotionally unwell, struggling with aspects of our personality, feeling deeply unhappy or just feeling dissatisfied with life and ourselves.

As a counsellor I am trained to listen empathically and non-judgmentally and to assist you in finding the answers and solutions to whatever is troubling you within a confidential and ethical setting. However, counselling and psychotherapy can also be used to help us  understand who we are, why we are as we are and to develop more fully into the person we have the potential to be and therefore does not just have to be for the times we are struggling in life.

Counselling can help people discuss their problems honestly and openly and in so doing, begin to understand how they can move through those problems and towards fulfilling their potential in all areas of their life. There are many models of counselling and psychotherapy and I work integratively with Person Centred Theory at the core of my practice This puts the client at the centre of the process, and recognises that they are the expert on themselves and empowers them to find their own answers. However, I also have training and experience in working in other theoretical models including Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and CBT and work with dreams, archetypes, inner child work, visualisation and mediation and relaxation techniques. As a result I am able to include other ways of working and to work in a way that is most appropriate for each individual client and their particular issues.

Because of my experience with many aspects of spirituality and spiritual practice I am also able to offer a deep spiritual aspect to the work, which can enrich and deepen the experience of counselling and psychotherapy.

I work with individuals both long and short term and at times have low cost places available for those in need.

I also offer supervision for counselling trainees, qualified counsellors and those working in the helping professions.

I have considerable experience working in FE, HE and private organisations as a Lecturer in counselling and as a counselling trainer, and I am an experienced facilitator and teacher.  I am available to offer counselling training and training in listening skills in all settings.
