About Lisa Sanders Counselling PG.Dip, Dip.Couns, BSc, accr.reg Couns BACP, ACAT

I offer an open, warm, professional and safe environment and deeply value the counselling process and relationship as unique to each individual. I will respect your privacy and confidentiality within the work that we will undertake together. Coming to therapy to explore, understand, and work through anything that may be troubling, whether that is your past or present or both can be difficult to do. We will work together and I will use my extensive training and expertise to help you through the difficulties you are facing.

My approach will depend on your needs and your goals. I will be thoughtful about your experiences and respectful to your wishes. Be assured that I have extensive experience when working with a range of complex histories and problems. Working within the NHS I have a proven record of helping many people to see past what may be troubling them and creating a different relationship to their problems so they no longer feel overwhelmed or trapped.

My fees are £30 for an introductory session and £40 for subsequent sessions, 60 minutes per session.

I am based in the Chew Valley, close to Wells, Bath and South Bristol. Surrounding villages include Keynsham, Pensford, Temple Cloud, West Harptree, Chew Stoke, Marksbury, Chew Magna. My practice is run from a detached office with plenty of off street parking. I am 10 miles from the centre of Bristol, 13 miles from Bath and 12 miles from Wells.

My experience involves working in GP surgeries, providing the NHS Talking Therapies Service, the Complex Needs Service within the Community Mental Health Teams in Wells and Berkshire and Maggie’s Cancer Charity in Oxford. As part of my roles within talking therapies and Maggie’s, I supervised other team members providing CBT and emotional support to clients.

I work with different approaches to therapy focusing on a range of issues including but not limited to the following:

Relationship and family issues
Depression and Anxiety
Self Esteem and confidence
Bereavement and Loss
Identity Problems
Trauma
Abuse
Sexual assault
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Personality Disorders
Problem Solving
Parenting guidance
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Self Harming
Anger
Life Adjustments
Pre and Postnatal Depression

The different approaches are described below:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) looks at your thoughts and feelings to change the way you feel. There may be exercises and things to do in between sessions.

Counselling / Psychotherapy can vary from problem solving, talking about your life in the present, to looking at your past relationships and childhood and linking them to the present.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) focuses on your personality development. We will talk about your past and childhood. Please see http://www.acat.me.uk/page/home for more information.
