My name is Dr Victoria Hughes, I am a qualified and experienced Chartered Counselling Psychologist (BPS) and a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This means you can be assured that my practice is regulated and audited to a high standard.
As a Psychologist, I feel it is important to work with people as individuals. I will work collaboratively to explore and understand your difficulties within a safe, confidential and supportive setting. I am trained in a number of therapies such as:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)
I combine aspects from each approach to provide supportive, collaborative, client-focused therapy. This means I’ll work alongside you using the type of therapy that best suits your personal needs and circumstances. For more information about what each therapy involves or more about what to expect, please visit my website.. www.kingsparkpsychologicaltherapyservice.co.uk
I see clients from all ages and backgrounds and find people come to therapy for many reasons. These may include experiences such as low mood, anxiety, OCD, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, social difficulties or recent events that have been traumatic in nature. I also specialise in neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism & ADHD. Often individuals can feel stuck and unable to address their difficulties alone. This is where I can help.
I can work on a short or longer term basis depending on your individual requirements. If you would like to know more about what I offer or would like to talk about whether psychological therapy could help, please feel free to contact me on 07769908827 for a free 15 minute telephone consultation. If I do not reach my phone in time, please leave a message and I will try to get back in touch with you within the day.
My practice is based in West Retford Hall, a beautiful grade II listed building overlooking Kings Park in the centre of Retford. There is access to free parking and my practice is only a couple of minutes drive from the A1. The railway and bus station is also within reach ensuring individuals can access support from the surrounding villages and towns.
For psychologists, therapists and trainees who would like to access supervision. I have undertaken supervision training to supervise up to and including doctorate level. I have also taught students on Psychology Doctorate & Undergraduate courses.
