About Lynda Britchford Counselling

Counselling gives you a safe and confidential space to talk about and explore, your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It enables you to talk through things, to understand more about yourself, and make sense of your situation. This can lead to positive changes in how you feel, how you live life, and also in your relationships with others.

Ive experienced therapy myself and I recognise that as a client, its really important to feel that you connect with your therapist. Therapy is a journey, and one in which I am willing to sit alongside you, while you explore your difficulties. Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming and difficult, particularly if it is related to trauma.

I am able to offer you an initial brief telephone conversation in which we can talk about why you are seeking therapy, and to decide whether you would like a face to face meeting.

I offer individual counselling to adults and young people over the age of 16. Dependent on your needs, this can be short or long term.

I offer support for many issues, but I have a particular interest in supporting people who have experienced trauma in their lives. This is not always the reason people give for coming to counselling, but often is the underlying difficulty. Unresolved trauma can result in significant distress, and often the reason given for seeking help is one of anxiety, panic, addiction, depression, self harm and/or suicidal thoughts, feeling bad about yourself, poor confidence, or difficulties with managing emotions such as anger, shame and guilt.

Other areas I can support you with…

I am a ‘dissociation friendly therapist‘ and have completed additional training in this area. I also have experience of supporting people with Asperger syndrome, personality disorder, and dissociative disorder. These can make dealing with the day to day stresses of life, and relationships really difficult, and at times upsetting and frustrating.

Regular counselling can give you a space to work through how you are feeling, and to process difficult experiences.

MNCS Acc – I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, which is a governing body for counsellors, and psychotherapists.

I am on the voluntary register which has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I am currently in advanced training (second year) of Masters programme, in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at the Berne Institute, Kegworth.  Im a member of UKATA & EATA, fully insured and abide by their code of ethics.

Fees:
£45 Per hour. I offer one hour, 1 ½ hr, and 2 hr appointments. Standard appointments are hourly, usually on a
weekly basis. Longer sessions by arrangement as mutually agreed between us.
