About Satori Integrative Therapy – Surabhi Chaturvedi (MBACP)

I offer face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy in Nottingham as well as online counselling via video chat on FaceTime (for iPad and iPhone), Skype or Google Talk , allowing you access safe, confidential support from a place that is most convenient to you. Face to face appointments are available in easily accessible city centre locations.

Counselling and therapy can offer us the opportunity to become aware of our true self and learn to see things from a fresh perspective. I aim to offer clients a chance to understand who they are without negative judgments, become open to their reality as it is without the unhelpful influence of the past, and discover their potential for growth and change.

I am an integrative therapist which means that I adapt my way of working to suit clients’ needs and pull together various approaches to offer the best support I can. I generally combine Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Psychoanalytic models and Humanistic/Existential approaches to counselling. In addition I use Buddhist and Sufi principles of self-awareness to help clients live in the present and experience life more fully.

EXPERIENCE
I have training and experience in working with diagnosed mental health problems as well as undiagnosed emotional distress including issues such as depression, anger, anxiety, panic, phobias and fears, loss and grief, domestic violence and abuse, sexual abuse, trauma, stress, gender issues, interpersonal relationships, work related problems, obsessions and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), seasonal affective disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, self-esteem and self-confidence, terminal illness, eating disorders, personal development, racism, spirituality and cultural issues.

Often the difficulties experienced by clients cannot be categorised or given a specific term and I have worked with people who have sought support because they are confused, feel like something is missing from their lives or because things just don’t feel quite right.
