About Counselling in Newark

Hello, my name is Donna Breed.

I am a qualified practitioner and BACP member. My training is BACP accredited to ensure a high standard of safe and ethical practice.

Looking for a counsellor can be daunting and the prospect of sharing difficult experiences and feeling vulnerable can be overwhelming. As part of my intensive training, I undertook three years counselling, and so I understand just how difficult it can be from the client’s perspective.

As a Humanistic and Integrative counsellor, I hold an optimistic view of people – being all with the potential to grow, change and develop. I work integratively; being that I incorporate knowledge and techniques that compliment the Humanistic philosophy and enhance the quality of the counselling relationship.

I do not want to give advice or tell you what to do. Instead I offer my understanding, acceptance and empathy alongside you in your journey. My role is to help you explore and make sense of your experiences; to be both supportive and at times, challenging – in the safe and confidential space of the counselling room.

The counselling relationship is an active and collaborative process. I aim to promote empowerment, so that you may be self –directive and make your own choices for positive change, to reach your potential and lead a more fulfilling life.

I offer counselling for adults aged 18+.

Training, Qualifications & Experience:

BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have experience in working with both children and adults through various charitable counselling services in the East Midlands area. In particular I have worked with trauma survivors and specialise in supporting victims of rape.

I have regular ongoing supervision to ensure safe and ethical practice.

I am committed to my personal and professional development, and attend relevant CPD workshops. These have included:

– Working creatively with Anger
– Principles and Methods of Relationally Focused Integrative Psychotherapy
– Attachment
– Living with Dissociation
– Awareness on Eating Disorders
– Safeguarding Children and Adults
– Domestic Violence Awareness Training
