About Amethyst Counselling
What is Counselling and How Will it Help?
At some point, everyone experiences difficult periods in their lives. The issues individuals face and the way in which it affects them can vary greatly from person to person. During these times of adversity, it can feel very lonely and as if there is nowhere or no-one to turn to for support. The counselling process will provide you with time to explore the issues you are currently facing and develop the autonomy to find the best way for you to resolve these.
A Bit About Me
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist who provides face-to-face counselling to adults and adolescents. I work with a wide range of issues some of which are, anxiety, depression and feeling sad, relationship and family issues including separation, divorce, affairs and betrayals, lack of confidence and low self-esteem.
As a qualified cognitive behavioural therapist I use this approach to discover the connections between a person’s thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours, with the aim of helping clients to deal with their overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. I also incorporate aspects from a variety of other theories into counselling sessions, to ensure the support my clients receive is tailored to their own presenting issues rather than implementing a ‘one size fits all’ way of working. Collaborative working within sessions, allows a two-way process, where together, we can identify underlying problems and sources of hidden conflict, explore how your past experiences may be affecting your present and what areas of your life or aspects of yourself you would like to change.
What to Expect During Our First Session Together
Part of our first session together will involve an assessment process, where I will ask about the reasons for coming to counselling, gathering some information about both your background and present life as well as what hope to get out of the counselling process. This will help me to gain a better understanding of you and the issues you are currently facing.
Choosing The Right Counsellor For You
The key to success within counselling is the relationship between client and counsellor. You need to you feel comfortable enough with someone to share your story and trust them with your fears, hopes and feelings. As this decision is so important, I am available to talk via telephone, e-mail or text to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have to help ensure you make the right decision for you.
