About Andy Lawrenson

Hello and welcome! If you are here reading through my profile, then you have found the courage to take that vital first step – acknowledging that you may need some outside help to resolve an issue or conflict that you feel stuck with. Most of us experience these negative feelings at some point in our lives, and of course there are different ways to help us unpick these knots that hold us in a particular cycle of emotions or actions. One of the most powerful is simply talking with someone whose sole purpose in your life is to listen, bring their expertise and just be there for you.

I initially trained and worked with individuals, and groups with CRUSE Bereavement Care. After studying at Durham University for two years, I then worked as a counsellor within a drug and alcohol agency. I now still work for CRUSE with bereavement issues, and in private practice, working with individuals and couples over a range of different issues.

My approach is broadly person centred. I believe that we all are experts in our own affairs, and that deep down, we all have the answers to our conflicts within ourselves. My privilege in working with you as a counsellor will be to help you find the answers that feel right for you, enabling you to move towards a sense of resolution.

Qualifications:
B.A. (Hons) Creative Arts – Music (University of Northumbria)
Certificate in Counselling Skills in the development of learning (RSA)
Cruse Certificate in Bereavement Awareness and Counselling Skills (ncfE)
Advanced Certificate in Counselling Skills (University of Durham)
M.A. Counselling Studies (University of Durham)

I am a companion member of the National Counselling Society (NCS)
