I have many years of experience in the Therapeutic Counselling sector, and provide counselling and supervision to clients and counsellors. I am experienced in working therapeutically with people from diverse cultures and social backgrounds. Clients are women and men, couples and individuals, young and old, straight and gay. The practise is based around integrative therapy which means working with several theoretical approaches; CBT, Person-centred etc.
Acceptance of each individual in their unique reality is inherent in this type of work.
My practice is based within a clinic in Waddington. It has a waiting room, disabled access and free parking nearby. Flexible appointments, including evenings, are offered when available.
After a talk by telephone or an email exchange we can arrange to meet for a first assessment. I will explain how I work and how confidential the work is. Our first session is used to explore what has brought you along and some of your history so that I can build up a picture in my mind of what might be happening for you. You will be asked what it is you want to get from our work and together we will have a focus, so we know what we are trying to achieve. Most people choose to work for six sessions to get an understanding of their problem although sometimes it is less. As the work progresses you may choose to space the sessions to fortnightly or monthly as need and resources allow.
Everyone is different and is treated as such. The work will revolve around your needs and I will strive to explore with you and keep the work realistic so it can offer you contentment. All work is reviewed every five weeks.
Areas of counselling I have worked with include; Abortion, Abuse, Affairs and betrayals, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Couples issues, Depression, Family issues, Low self-confidence, Low self-esteem, Relationship issues, Separation and divorce, Stress, Trauma, Work related stress
If, when we meet, I feel unable to be able to usefully help you I will try my best to put you in touch with the right person.
Clinical supervision is offered to both qualified Counsellors and Trainees.
