my name is Jacci Jones. I run a Psychotherapy private practice from my home in Coppull, Lancashire at jaccijones.co.uk.
I am a qualified psychotherapist who trained in Transactional Analysis at the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy.
I often get asked ‘What is the difference between a Psychotherapist and a Counsellor?’
A therapist can often provide both counselling and psychotherapy, because psychotherapy often requires more training.
While a Psychotherapist is qualified to provide counselling, a Counsellor may or may not possess the necessary training and skills to provide psychotherapy.
Technically speaking, ‘counsellor’ means “advisor.” It involves two people working together to solve a problem.
Psychotherapy on the other hand is generally a longer-term treatment that focuses more on gaining insight into chronic physical and emotional issues. Its focus is on the person’s thought processes, and how these may be influenced by past events that may cause problems in the present.
I am a mum of three amazing children and in my working life over the last 20 years, I have facilitated training in various establishments for Foster carers, Social Services, Parents, Teachers and other Therapists via conferences and training programmes.
I was a foster carer for 12 years, mainly fostering teenage boys with severely challenging behaviour. This lead me to train in Psychotherapy. I now run a successful private practice from my home in Coppull, Lancashire, as well as being a co founder of Parent-Plus, which is a website aiming to provide help and support for parents.
More recently I have updated my training to include Coaching, NLP and ‘The 3 Principles’.
I offer face to face therapy and coaching or via zoom/skype calls online, please get in touch if you are ready to make a change.
Remember the first step is always the hardest!
