About April Clarkley Counselling and Psychotherapy Services (Children, Teens and Adults)

Counselling is a place where we can explore, understand and work together through problems and difficult emotions that you may be struggling with. I aim to provide a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment in which to do this.

Counselling can help with a variety of issues, including:

  • Anxiety, depression and stress
  • Bereavement or loss
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Surviving trauma or abuse
  • Anger

I have trained to work with an integrating method, which allows me to draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques to suit individual needs and personal circumstance.

When working with children, I will adapt the sessions accordingly, using either a child lead or more structured approach. Play therapy skills may be used, where toys, sand and creative materials help the child to make sense of challenging situations and feelings.

I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, regardless of religion, cultural background, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Adults

£55 per 50 minute session

Children and Teenagers (up to 16 years)

For child and teenage clients, I first meet with parents or carers before any therapy begins. This meeting allows me to collect information about the child, for the therapy process to be explained and for me to answer any questions you may have.

£55 Initial parent/carer meeting (50 minutes)
£55 Counselling session (30-50 minutes)

My qualifications, affiliations and experience:

Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling with Children and Young People

Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

Certificate in Counselling Skills

MBACP Registered Member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have worked with adults, children and young people in a variety of organisations, including North Kent MIND and local schools.

I am committed to undertaking regular supervision and practising within the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) ethical framework.
