About ViVa Counselling

One of the hardest parts about starting your Counselling journey is actually starting your counselling

It can be a very confusing time and I hope to make that easier for you. Finding the right Counsellor is very important as it can change your whole experience if you pick the wrong one for you.

You need consider what would be the right type of Counsellor for you before you even think about the location, fee and availability.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP, who has gained extensive experience working in many areas including:

·       Self-harm

·       Anxiety

·       Depression

·       Bereavement

·       Historical sexual abuse

·       Personality disorders

·       General feelings surrounding changes in life and work

·       Coping with chronic medical disorders

·       Eating Disorders

·       Suicidal Ideation

·       Relationship issues

I currently volunteer at community counselling setting in Canterbury, Kent, but practice privately down the coast in Deal.

My approach is centred around the Humanistic theory, with an importance on building a good trust based relationship with the client at the beginning of the counselling process. I feel this is fundamental in helping the client start a positive journey of self-development and a positive outcome to their counselling. As an integrative Counsellor I will decide the best way to work with a client and will use skills and methods from other theories including CBT work.

What Can You Expect On Your First Session

Once we have an initial conversation over the phone to talk about starting your Counselling, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Session which will be our first face to face meeting.

In this session we will discuss the reason you want to start counselling and if I believe I can help you with the issues you are coming for. We will also go over some general information gathering questions to get a full picture of what your needs are.

If I think I may not be suitable to proceed as your counsellor, I will go over other options with you and help out with referrals as much as I can.

The Counselling Process

Once you have started your counselling, we will work together to achieve the results you desire. I offer short and long-term counselling with regular review sessions where we can discuss if you want / need to continue or if you feel ready to start ending your counselling.

All work carried out is strictly confidently and I abide by the Ethical Framework set out by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
