About Counselling
Counselling is a talking therapy, which allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space.
A counsellor has been trained to work with difficult feeling and thoughts. Having the support and insight of a counsellor enables a person to explore things that have happened in the past, what is happening currently and what might lie ahead.
Integrative counselling offers an opportunity to use different techniques and theories; alongside talking these include working with dreams, drawing, mindfulness exercises, other forms of self-expression and self-exploration. This means that what is included in the sessions depends on what works for the individual.
Counselling can be used to address a variety of different issues including
Anxiety
Depression
Bereavement and loss
Abuse, such as bullying and sexual abuse
Relationship issues
Addictions
Eating disorders
Self-esteem issues
Creative blocks
Feelings of being ‘stuck’ or powerlessness.
