I am a registered Integrative Psychodynamic Counsellor with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and currently offer Counselling & Psychotherapy to adults affected by a range of mental health issues on a private basis.
I work in a relational way, creating a confidential space, where safety and trust can be established, enabling the expression of feelings, thoughts, and exploration of behaviour that may be causing you concern.
Depending on your needs, this may lead to an in depth exploration around relationship difficulties and patterns, which you might have been identified as problematic, drawing upon Psychodynamic theory to aid understanding of presenting issues. Alternatively work might remain in the present moment, addressing symptoms using cognitive strategies, with the aim of developing healthy coping mechanisms and stress reduction. Therapy might further involve working through existential feelings in response to life events, such as trauma, loss and bereavement.
I also work in a holistic way, exploring the psychological link between mind and body, that may appear in bodily symptoms such as states of hyper or hypo-arousal (linked to the fight-flight response), with corresponding fluctuations in mood.
Additionally, as a qualified Personal Trainer I am able to offer exercise and nutritional advice, that can be beneficial for the purpose of mood enhancing or calming and have been found to be particular helpful in the treatment of anxiety and depression (NICE Guidelines).
