Are you feeling anxious, depressed or stressed? Suffered a bereavement and are struggling to cope with the loss? Perhaps you need support in coping with trauma and PTSD, life transitions or relationship difficulties...or are you simply feeling lost, confused and unsure of what is wrong?
People come to counselling for many different reasons, whatever difficulties you are experiencing I can offer you a safe, confidential and professional space to take some time-out and reflect. I respect individual difference and uniqueness and work with you to help you develop your self-awareness, so you may come to know yourself better, are able to identify your options and develop sustainable strategies for leading a peaceful and fulfilled life. My ethos aspires to develop your internal resources, resulting in feelings of empowerment, improved resilience and emotional freedom.
Gestalt is an experiential and relational therapy with a here-and-now focus, by considering the whole of the person; experience, thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations, new insights emerge of how past experiences can impact present life. The nature of Gestalt means in addition to talking therapy, I can offer more creative ways of working. This may include; sand trays, stones, strength cards. Through the use of a friendly and professional relationship and creative strategies, profound change becomes possible.
Whilst I hold Humanistic Gestalt ethos, I will draw on other appropriate theories and counselling models to ensure your therapy process continues to meet your individual needs and progresses effectively. This may involve Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or mindfulness to challenge recurring negative thoughts and reduce anxiety or to help you cope with symptoms of trauma and PTSD. On occasion I will encourage understanding of relevant theory to assist your process also.
