About Manchester Mind Matters

Life can be a struggle, zapping your energy and leaving you exhausted. It’s very easy to get tangled up in problems. Maybe I can show you a way to press “pause”

My approach to counselling is very much person-centred which means it is non-directive allowing clients the space to explore their thoughts/feelings and emotions at their own pace. Put simply, the client is the driver while I act as navigator – no sat nav required!! I aim to provide a supportive, caring environment to help you find the resources to solve your own problems. We all have these inner resources but sometimes we need to be reminded that they are there and how best to use them!

One of the counselling techniques I sometimes use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which looks at how our thoughts, feelings are behaviour are interlinked. Its easy to get stuck in a cycle of negative thinking and behaviour and CBT helps people develop strategies for breaking this cycle.

I can also use mindfulness if appropriate. This teaches us how to be more in the moment rather than being stuck in the past or worrying about the future. It’s a way of being more aware of what is actually going on for you and by increasing this awareness you are able to notice and ultimately alter more negative patterns of thinking and behaviour. Mindfulness encourages you to enjoy life more, savouring the good times whilst being more prepared for and in control of life’s challenges.

During the first session, we can discuss what you want to get out of counselling and how we might go about achieving this. This can be anything from looking at specific problems such as redundancy to exploring more deep seated issues which may stop you being the person you want to be. Perhaps you just need some headspace? A place to get your thoughts together and gain some clarity? I can provide a confidential, non-judgmental space and the support to allow you to do just that. Much can be achieved in a few sessions but I’m also happy to work longer-term depending on your requirements.

I am based in the centre of Gee Cross within easy access of Tameside, Derbyshire, Stockport, Manchester and surrounding areas. I can offer day time appointments and early evening appointments from Monday to Thursday.

I know how hard it is to ask for help and by looking at this profile you are already a step closer to making positive changes. For a no obligation chat please phone me on my mobile ( 07977 590765 ). If I’m unavailable and you’d like me to call you back please leave a message on my voicemail and I will call you back within 24 hours. Alternatively, you can email me for further information or to make an appointment.
