Life can be full up of many challenges. Sometimes our close relationships, family situations, work life, or just day to day living can give rise to a variety of unmanageable emotions, or cause us an ‘emotional wobble’. You could have experienced a major life event, or crisis, such as bereavement, trauma, or a relationship breakdown. Any or all of these can make us feel overwhelmed and confused, we are after all only human, but this makes it difficult for us to find a way forward, to think clearly or believe we will get through to the other side. You perhaps find it difficult to talk to or confide in those closest to you, feeling lost in your difficulties and with nowhere to turn. Sometimes we can end up ignoring our feelings, burying them inside, but at times they may be causing worries and anxieties, low mood and sadness, feelings of guilt and shame, or find conflict and rage, we may even make ourselves ill, emotionally and physically.
Counselling offers you the chance to take ‘time out’ from your daily routine and to focus on the things that are concerning you or where you want to make changes. As an experienced counsellor I will support you to make sense of what is happening in your life, explore how you would like things to be and help you find your own solutions. Working toward making your situation manageable on your terms, so that you can feel more comfortable with yourself, in your relationships with others and your life overall.
In my practice I welcome diversity and the challenges it brings. I have a wide variety of experience in supporting, individuals - adults and young people, as well as working with couples and families, and delivering therapeutic group work.
