We recognise that clients often need a space where they can talk confidentially without being judged in order to understand what is stopping them moving forward. Our aim is to empower clients using a range of modalities. This may include helping improve communications, enabling everyone to be heard, challenge negative thinking, reduce maladaptive behaviours and find some positive coping strategies.

About Counselling

To believe that life is meant for a single purpose, one must also believe in a common fate father to daughter, brother to sister, mother to child. Blood ties can be as unyielding as they are eternal. But it is our bonds of choice that truly light the road we travel, love versus hatred, loyalty against betrayal. However, the first thing is to truly love ourselves.

By helping clients to find their own resources and use them effectively, counselling can help to move their lives forward and regain their well-being. This process is dependent upon a relationship of trust and open communication and takes place in an atmosphere of shared confidentiality.

Counselling can help with self-discovery and self-awareness, thus increasing self esteem and self-worth. When confidence improves and you have a better knowledge of yourself and others, you will be able to improve your interpersonal relationships by being able to verbalise ideas, feelings and experiences. Counselling can help to uncover hidden fears, apprehensions, negative feelings and biases. It can help you to become more sensitive to your own needs and feelings and those of others and can inform you of how your culture, upbringing and background can affect your personal decisions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy / Solution Focused Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy can help to provide positive coping strategies in order to enable clients to move forward from a stuck place. Working with the way clients communicate and see the world, strategies can be offered to break down barriers that are creating worries, anxiety and negative thought patterns and replace with positive methods to build self-esteem and confidence as well as identifying a client's own strengths. Positive strategies often don't take long to implement and can be adapted to different situations, thereby empowering clients to work through difficult issues in the future using these new resources.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR can help address multiple traumatic events without clients having to discuss each event in detail. When clients have been traumatised, they can often get stuck, reliving the trauma and having nightmares, becoming hypervigilant and anxious and being triggered by a range of reminders. Traumatic events can including being in an accident, domestic violence, sexual abuse, fleeing war, terrorism as well as being a witness to such events or working in this areas as an emergency worker or healthcare professional. In EMDR, memories of adverse life experiences will be accessed and processed using eye movements or tapping to reduce distress, change negative beliefs and decrease triggers. This encourages the creation of new associations to traumatic memories and information processing, thereby developing new learning and insights for an adaptive resolution

EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a therapy that teaches you various tapping techniques in a particular sequence, which you administer to different parts of your body, following various meridian lines or acupressure points, whilst saying specific positive statements to free you from limiting beliefs.

Almost everything you do is a reaction based on previous emotional experiences. The choices you make and the actions you take will be defined by past experiences based on your emotions. By clearing these emotions from within your body you will be able to enjoy new experiences. So if you have any fears or phobias, want to stop smoking or have feelings of anger and resentment, you can now change your emotions to your issue by having a session of Emotional Freedom Technique. This therapy may help you identify stressful triggers so by altering existing thoughts and emotions you will be able to collapse negative beliefs. Once learnt it may be possible to carry on administering the techniques at home to continue to gain benefit.

Life Coaching

People go through many changes in their lifetime. However, for some people, effecting a change can be a painful experience due to the barriers that prevent a change from happening. Talking to a life coach on a regular basis, either in person, or on the telephone, can help you to think and speak openly about options in order to create an ideal environment for positive action to take place.

Life coaching can be challenging and is non-judgmental. It helps you to develop yourself whilst not imposing or being prescriptive. Coaching is a holistic practice because it looks at the client's present circumstances and goals are set to make positive changes happen. It is not counselling or mentoring. A Life Coach we will look at a client's health, work situation, financial concerns and any relationship issues in order to ascertain which barriers are preventing the change from taking place.
