About Selone Ajewole: MSc, Reg. MBACP (Accred), Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Ethos

Life 1:5 Counselling understands that life’s curveballs are enough to throw even the strongest people off course, myself included. My name is Selone Ajewole and counselling to me is simply a warm, non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment, which allows you to gain clarity of thought in the presence of another caring human being.

The opportunity to pause, be listened to, learn and recalibrate is seldom afforded to us in such a fast paced life. As a practitioner I believe that the client themselves already has the answer, my role is simply to work alongside you to help to facilitate its illumination.

Approach To Counselling

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist which simply means that I am trained in multiple schools of thought (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Humanistic and Psychodynamic) and I am able to tailor my approach to suit your specific needs as an individual.

I also practice Christian counselling and can introduce a non-judgmental biblical perspective on your circumstance only as requested.

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and strictly adhere to their code of ethics.

Counselling Sessions-Face to Face and Online

All counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are conducted one to one in a private and comfortable room or online via Skype or Zoom. These sessions simply take the form of a conversation discussing whatever is on your heart in that moment.

I offer 2 types of service, one is a single ‘ad hoc’ session which may occur only once, on a monthly basis or a few times throughout the year as needed. These sessions are required when individuals use counselling as a “check in” where room is given to discuss secondary concerns that do not require intensive weekly sessions.

The other type of service I offer are for more deep seated issues such as abuse, depression, or anxiety which require more time to work through. Sessions tend to occur on a once a week basis and begin with an initial consultation to outline what brought you to therapy in the first place, what you hope to gain by the end of therapy, what the sessions are likely to entail and how many sessions may be required. During this session you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have or highlight any fears or concerns about the process. By the end of this session we will have been able to establish whether or not we feel able to work together in a therapeutic relationship.

Where appropriate and as long as a client feels comfortable, I incorporate more practical and creative methods within sessions such as writing, drawing, role playing or using other resources such as worksheets, buttons or stones to help further access emotion or gain clarity of thought.

After the initial consultation, sessions are offered on a minimum of 2 additional counselling appointments basis, occurring once a week/once every 2 weeks. Flexibility in terms of session extension is also available, for example sessions can be extended to a mutually agreed pre-determined amount of weeks or can remain open ended as required.   A drop in service is unavailable.

Further Resources

I am the author of a thought provoking and practical book which merges psychotherapy and faith to aid in ones quest for peace.  Uniquely formulated from the knowledge and expertise of a qualified Psychotherapist and a Pastor, this book allows the reader to identify and pre-empt peace-robbing scenarios and provides the necessary tools to quickly reinstate it. Client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive citing it as a great resource to utilise both alongside or outside of therapy. “From Pieces to Peace: Finding Peace in 5 Key Areas of Your Life” by Selone Ajewole.
